“Under Pressure” a Copy of “Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City”?… No.

One reviewer said Logic’s 2014 effort, “Under Pressure,” is a copy of Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 effort, “Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City.”

In a negative review, a staff reviewer from Sputnikmusic said,

“It’s not a verbatim copy of Kendrick’s work, but it’s every bit the stylistic counterfeit, and while it, along with the other mentions above, could be seen as imitations done in reverence had they been released on a free mixtape, their use on an album is no doubt a calculated effort to profit off of the ideas and work of another who did it first, in an attempt to capitalize on the ignorance of those listeners who may not know better.”

I completely disagree with this review. While the reviewer did give some praise later on, I see it a different way.

While it may be similar to “Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City,” it is by no means a copy. The better question is if it is similar, then why are there so many “good kids” in “mad cities”?

I think that is the bigger problem we should be thinking about and bigger question we should be asking.

Why are there so many good kids in mad cities???
